Coconut Oil is a blessing. This multipurpose oil is getting more and more popular while it has been use for centuries in tropical countries . I keep two jars of coconut oil at home : one in the kitchen for cooking (I only use coconut oil and olive oil) and one in my bathroom.
One of my first post on this blog was about using oils to weekly deep condition my hair in order to keep them healthy and moisturized. I also happen to use it to replace five more beauty/hygiene items in my bathroom:
  1. Body Lotion
Coconut Oil makes a great moisturizer. I do have very dry and eczema-prone skin, and I have to say that so far this is the best body lotion I have ever use. CO is also great for people suffering from psoriasis because it is anti-fongic anti-bacterial and has soothing properties.

  2. Shaving Cream
If you have sensitive skin, you know how painful shaving can be and during the summer, silky legs are a must! I have replaced my shaving creams by coconut oil and I have a 2 in 1 products now : not only the razor glides smoothly onto the skin, but thanks to its moisturizing properties , I don't end up with legs on fire. Be careful though if you shave in the shower as it may get slippery...

  3. Makeup Remover
Oils can remove makeup easily because they melts and dissolve it without agressing the skin. Using Coconut Oil, especially for the eyes is a great idea because it will condition your lashes at the same time. And who doesn't want bigger and thicker lashes?

  4. Cuticule Softener
You can also ditch you cuticule cream, oil or vaseline. Moisturizing your cuticule is an important step for keeping your nails healthy and long. Massaging your cuticule every night helps your nails grow and stay strong.

  5. Scrub
Exfoliation is a beauty basic if you don't want to end up with dull skin but many people forget about it or dread it because it can be harsh on the skin. You can create a very gentle and natural scrub by mixing some
sea salt or raw brown sugar to the oil. Use this DIY on you face, lips and body to get rid of accumulated dead-skin cells and notice the soft result :) .

If you are looking for high quality Coconut Oil (Virgin, Unbleached, Organic and Cold-Pressed), I get mine from A New Earth, an organic store in Achrafieh (Zahret el Ihsan street).
