Red lips is a classic, but for Summer 2014 the trend is set on orange lips. If you feel bold and confident with bright shades, then you can definitely pull it off. However, I believe that all skin tones can be magnified with the right shade of orange.
For the most courageous, I recommend the Make Up For Ever Aqua Rouge in Bright Orange #17. It is waterproof and you can get both the matte and glossy effect.
Yves-Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Couture in shade #13 is in my opinion the perfect shade. It is no not too red, not too bright (or neon) nor too yellowish. "Le Orange", as it is called, is said to be Kourtney Kardashian favorite lipstick! As you can see in the picture, this is particularly flattering on her medium skin tone.
Another great pick by YSL is the Rouge Pur Couture Glossy Stain in Orange de Chine. This is a very long lasting formula with a very nice glossy finish without being sticky. I personally love that one since the color and the finish are great!
For those who think that orange may not be flattering on their complexion, try Chanel Rouge Allure in Incandescente, which is more of a red-orange. The texture is excellent and the color is still bold enough to make a statement. Keira Knightley - who is, as you may know, quite fair - was spotted with this lipstick on a red carpet premiere this spring.
Finally, if you feel too shy, you can still get a hint of orange on your lips by using a lighter texture. I suggest Chanel Lipgloss in Sunny or Bourjois Color Boost in shade #03.
