I always nag my friends about sodas. I ditched them long ago and I drink sodas on special occasion only.
I know people who drink 2 to 3 soda cans a day, which is completely unhealthy and dangerous. And because they get the diet soda, they think they are “safe”.
Although my blog is mainly about beauty, I believe that beauty comes from our daily habits, including our nutrition. Sodas should not be part of our lifestyle and has to remain exceptional.
Here is why:
The weekend is finally here! You probably had a great party yesterday or you will have tonight. And maybe you won't remember what happened but your skin probably will.
For those crazy nights, I have some remedies keep a beautiful skin and wake up like a princess!
My friends often ask me how I take care of my hair. I have long curly hair (type 3b) and since my very young age, my mother taught me how to take good care of them. My mother was also blessed with very long hair too (down to waist), and so was my grandmother (her mother) who had her hair down…to knees! Our secret? Weekly oil masks, also called deep conditioning. I know for most of you it may sound gross to put oil on your hair but such treatment is my I-can’t-live-without.
To apply the oil, you should start with your scalp and massage it, then the rest of the hair. Depending on your hair (and your time), you can leave it from one to several hours with a warm towel wrapped on your hair. The heat will allow the oil to penetrate your hair deep inside their structure.
If your hair is damaged I recommend leaving the treatment overnight for better result. In this case, do not forget to protect your pillow by using a silk scarf (and not cotton because it naturally absorbs the moisture and the oil). Then you can wash your hair as usual and after several time, I am sure you will notice how smoother, shiner and healthier your hair will be.
I realize that this may not seem very convenient but it is a small sacrifice to get beautiful hair. If your chose to leave it for a couple of hours, you can still do a thousand things at home, like reading or watching a movie.
My personal favorites oils are:
You can also combine these oils together depending on your preferences. I particularly recommend this for dry hair, curly & frizzy hair and long hair (to prevent split ends). However, you have to be consistent and patient to start seeing result, but I guarantee this is better than any commercial masks you will ever buy!
Happy Friday :)
Rosewater does not only belong to the kitchen. I consider this as one of my essential beauty product. I mostly use it as a toner, after removing my makeup. Sometimes, I also apply it in the morning to freshen up my skin and remove excess oils if I don’t want to use a cleanser.
It is natural, cheap and more efficient than any other high-end toner I have used. The fact that it is natural is also a great thing for sensitive skin, since most toner contain alcohol or just way too many unpronounceable ingredients.
Rosewater is also a multi-purpose product with many benefits that suits all skin types:
If you want to add rose water to your routine, I recommend that you check the ingredients and get pure rose water with no added component.
Summer means sunshine, beach and tanning. But unfortunately, we are not equal when it comes to tanning. However, there are some foods that can get you a better and longer tan.
First, you should understand how do you tan. We get our skin color from a pigment called melanin. The concentration of melanin determined the color of your skin (i.e. fair skin having less, dark skin having more). When our skin is exposed to the sun or artificial rays, our body produces more melanin to protect it from burning. How does food impact that? Well you must know that there is an amino acide called tyrosine that is implied in melanin production. By consuming foods containing this amino acid, you can boost your melanin production.
