Happy New Year!

If you are reading this post, you may have noticed some changes that happened to this blog. For the new year, I thought the beginning of the new year would be the perfect time for a change. After all, aren't the new year resolutions about an upgrade of yourself?
2015 hasn't been the easiest year of my life, but it did for sure taught me a lot. Despite some bitter memories, I am grateful for all the experience I have been through and all the amazing things I was able to do and live.

New year. Better you!

This time usually brings resolutions, hoping that the beginning of the new year will help bring some change into our life and routine. Truth is, you can always make that change, and if you don't start in January, there are still 11 months left to make that change!

Resolutions are also often associated to the first week of January, for they are quickly ditched and forgotten. This is why I have waited to write this post.

I think the problem with most resolutions takers, is that they don't really think about HOW they will implement these changes into their life. They just decide to change without considering how and what to do.

For exemple, let's say you want to get healthy. There are dozens ways to start! If you want to start eating healthy, you can decide that you will have at least one healthy meal a day, then upgrade to two after a month, and finally three... Or if you are inactive, you can sign up for a class twice a week.
If you want to save money, create a budget and list of your expenses/resources in order to evaluate how much you can save on a monthly basis.
If you want to be a better daughter/son/family member, you can organize once a week (or whatever frequency you prefer) a family gathering... It's UP TO YOU.

Notice the pattern I am describing. It is about creating rituals that will allow you to take action. It is also about taking baby step if you are not confident about the path to follow. Then you can slowly improve your way and habits!
You also need to know WHY you are doing this. Acknowledging the reason behind your decision can also be very powerful and remind you to carry on when you feel like giving up.

Let's say your resolution is to read more books in 2016. The ritual would be to read every day before going to bed for at least 15 minutes. The reason or the goal is to improve you knowledge or skills, become smarter, wiser and open-minded. Whenever you don't feel like it, remember what is your goal and what do you want to achieve.

In the end, resolutions are not a burden or a joke. They can also be a way to become a better you, to love yourself and to show love to your body, your mind, your surrounding.
