As I mentionned in a previous post, Lush just opened a new store at ABC Achrafieh and in my haul I featured their mascara called Eyes Right. I have had a huge allergy crisis the past few days and my eyes are slowly recovering. I have decided to give this mascara a try since the ingredient list is very short, which is perfect for sensitive eyes.
Ingredients: Fresh Wheatgrass Infusion (Triticum vulgare), Water (Aqua), Japan Wax (Rhus succedanea), Talc, Carnauba Wax,
Stearic Acid, Triethanolamine, PVP, CI77499, Methylparaben
You can see that the main three ingredients are Wheatgrass, Water and Wax, which makes this product quite light and clean, despite the parabens. There has been a whole debate about parabens lately, so I might write a post about it but I would like to say that you can find parabens in some natural foods. Did you know that methylparaben is found in blueberries? Don't be so scared of parabens, there are not good in high concentration and in this case, there is only a little of it (last ingredient on the list).
The packaging is quite unusual and like nothing I have ever seen. It is a small glass bottle that can fit in my hand (and my hands are small...). It contain as much as a most mascaras, which is between 5 and 6 ml.
The wand is quite classic, big but short at the same time which might not be easy to use at the beginning. The texture is smooth, very easy to apply and create a black glossy finish.
If you look for a false-lashes effect, this is probably not the best product, but I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised by the result of this natural mascara. Here's some before and after (2 coats) pictures (excuse the fine lines, I barely recovered from my conjonctivitis). The result is quite good for a mascara that does not claim the latest innovation (and sometimes not very effective) in lenght or volume.
+ Perfect for sensitive eyes
+ Clean compositions and short ingredients list
+ Cruelty-free and Vegan
+ Black glossy finish
+ Everything in the packaging is recyclable except the wand of the mascara
- Not waterproof / smudgeproof
- The applicator is quite short, which makes the application quite difficult at first
- The bottle is heavy since it is made of glass so despite the small size, it makes it less inconvenient to transport or travel with.
- The wand may be too big for certain eye shapes. They should create an alternative wand for people with smaller eyes.
So buy it or leave it?
Buy it. I particularly recommand this mascara if you have sensitive eyes or if you look for a natural effect! This has become my go-to mascara for work because it is nice to have a mascara that I can use on a daily basis without worrying about my eyes or my lashes getting fragilized.
I also would like to thank and congragulate Lush amazing team for the official lauching event. Although I was sick and could not stay longer that I intented to, I had a great time!
